Everything I've read so far just talks about hardwiring via ethernet, but I'm already using the extra ethernet port for another device. Will using the Time Capsule wirelessly unnecessarily slow down/congest my network? Thanks for any help/advice.

Jul 18, 2017 · Wait ten seconds, then reconnect your AirPort Time Capsule to power. When the built-in drive on your Time Capsule is working, the indicator light on the Time Capsule turns green. If there's an issue, the light flashes amber. Open AirPort Utility and connect to your Time Capsule to learn more about the issue. If the Time Capsule is connected to a network, you should never connect to it directly (it won't work as you expect!). That may also explain why you are not seeing differences in speed: your Mac was still using WiFi to connect to the Time Capsule. For a while I have been getting messages similar to; 'Time Machine has verified my backup and to improve reliability a new backup is required' (sorry don't remember the exact syntax).
